De Jongh called up to Bok bench

PUBLISHED: September 28, 2012

DHL Western Province centre Juan de Jongh has been added to the Springbok bench for Saturday’s Rugby Championship clash against the Wallabies in Pretoria.

With the Sharks’ Frans Steyn dropping out at the 11th hour with an ankle injury, the Lions’ Jaco Taute has been promoted to the starting XV, with De Jongh coming in to wear jersey No.21. Taute will wear the No.13 jersey, with DHL WP’s Jean de Villiers shiting to inside centre.

Should De Jongh – one of seven DHL WP players in the Bok 22 – take to the field on Saturday, he will win his 11th cap, whilst Taute will be making his Test debut for South Africa.

Meanwhile, in another late change to the Bok bench, prop Coenie Oosthuizen has also been ruled out. His place, amongst the replacements, has been taken by Lions prop Pat Cilliers.
