Crushing win for Emerging XV

PUBLISHED: February 7, 2015

A slick DHL Western Province Emerging XV recorded a whopping 57-22 win over a Boland XV at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.

The DHL WP Emerging side, made up entirely of non-contracted players, led by 19-12 at half-time before completely overpowering their hosts in the second half.

The DHL WP outfit, under the coaching of Jerome Paarwater, scored six second-half tries, with flyhalf and skipper Shane Vallender (pictured, above) slotting six conversions in all.

Coach Paarwater swapped his team around at the end of every quarter, starting the match with his reserve bench and giving all thirty players in the matchday squad a decent run out.

Vallender helped himself to a try – an intercept effort – with the side managing some exciting scores in the final quarter as they moved past the 50-point mark and then notched up a ninth try at the full-time whistle.
