Tygerberg thumped a hapless Kuilsriver 67–14 running in nine tries in the process and moved top of the log on point’s difference. Maties proved too strong for SK Walmers beating them 41-20 at Greenpoint Track while Brackenfell once again put in a solid performance to beat Varsity Shield finalists UWC by 25-15.
False Bay showed their class by handing the UCT students their second loss in a row at the Green Mile beating them 42-17, and in a close encounter while Sir Lowrians beat Primrose 19-14 to pick up valuable log points. Belhar lost 12-26 to a strong Vics side.
In Super League B action, Macassar narrowly lost to Young Peoples 16-18, Collegians and Kraaifontein played to an exciting 24-all draw while in a very tight derby match at Gustrouw St Georges pipped Strand 14-9 in front of a capacity crowd.
Hamlets upset high riding Villager at Brookside 33-26 in a very entertaining match while Hands and Hearts scored a runaway victory over league new comers Goodwood beating them 41-20 in soaking rain on Friday night.
In Super League C, Young Stars proved too strong for home team Blue Jet beating them 44-22, Franshoek ran out comfortable winners at Groendal beating Silverleaf 46-10 and Paarl was much too strong for Hamediehs beating them 34-3 at Faure Street.
Rangers remained unbeaten when they easily beat Lagunya 29-8 in Surrey Estate, Langa shocked hosts Scottsdene 32-28 and Strand United scored a good win over Masi 24-17. Elsies River United scored a close victory of 27-25 over Raithby at Elsies Park.
In the City League competition Manenberg Rangers recorded a well-deserved win over Police winning 20-12 while Tech Tuine scored an exciting win over Watsonia 39-22. Young Ideas beat Temp-Cities 23-14 at Langa Stadium.
In the Northern League All Saints beat Atlantis 25-6, Blakes scored a comfortable win over Khayelitsha 58-18 and Whistling Wheels proved too strong for Delft running out 59-12 winners in Delft.
In the Southern League competition Peninsula scored a solid win over Thistles in Sandvlei running out 54-15 winners, hosts Rocklands pipped Titans 17-10 while Retreat scored a solid victory over Northerns 24-18. Bishop Lavis and Eersterivier played to an exciting 17-all draw in Bishop Lavis.
In the Paarl region competition Young Standards proved way too strong for Young Gardens winning by 38-5. Allandale narrowly beat Simondium 36-34 while Lower Paarl pipped Violets (Paarl) 17-15. All matches took place at Dal Josofat.
In the Simonsberg league Evergreens scored a huge victory over Khayamandi in Stellenbosch 85-8, Excelsior easily beat Lwandle 45-13, Morning Star was way too strong for Devon Valley as they beat them 70-6 and Pumas scored a surprise victory over 2015 league winners 27-17 at Wesbank.
The Sunday League competition kicked off this week with a solid start from Tyhume Stars as they beat Witsand United 41-14, Star of Cape beat Cape Stars 17-0 while Home Boys and Khaya Rose played to an exciting 7-all draw in Khayelitsha.
