Bonus-point for unbeaten U19s

PUBLISHED: July 19, 2014

The DHL Western Province Under-19s made it two bonus point wins in two matches this season, beating the Leopards by 39-12 in Absa Provincial Under-19 action at City Park on Saturday.

Left-wing Leolin Zas scored a hat-trick of tries for the slick WP side as they converted their 22-7 half-time lead into a convincing five tries to two victory.

Building on their 50-26 win over the Free State Under-19s last weekend, Province’s defence and speed on attack were key features in their second-round win.

Zas, in particular, showed great pace and skill with ball in hand, his second try securing the bonus point win for Province before grabbing a hat-trick with a wonderful individual effort just before full-time.

Left-footed flyhalf Ernst Stapelberg was again in outstanding form off the kicking tee – missing just one shot at goal on the day as he walked off with 14 points, having scored 25 points last week.

Outside centre Jarryd Sage and No.6 flank Charlton Jonas were the other try-scorers for DHL Western Province.
