DHL Western Province romped to a 42-6 Absa Currie Cup win over the Vodacom Blue Bulls at DHL Newlands on Saturday evening.
The home side ran in five brilliant tries to move up into second place on the Absa Currie Cup as the youngsters stole the show in Cape Town – with six members of this 22-man WP squad still eligible for the DHL WP U21 side this season.
Tries by Nic Groom, Deon Fourie, Marcel Brache, Damian de Allende and JP du Plessis had the 13,649 supporters in raptures as DHL WP picked up a crucial win over their long-time Currie Cup rivals.
Flyhalf Demetri Catrakilis adding the icing on the cake with four conversions and three penalty goals, as the home side picked up their second win of the season in glorious circumstances.
The Bulls managed two penalties through flyhalf Louis Fouche, both in the first half, as WP led 17-6 at the break before piling on 25 points in the second half without answer.
