The DHL Western Province Under-19 side claimed a valuable 40-31 win over their hosts, the Free State Cheetahs, in Bloemfontein on Friday.
With both teams scoring four tries in a 71-point thriller, the boot of flyhalf Tommy Allan ultimately saw the visitors through – after the DHL WP Under-19 team led by 20-17 at halftime.
Allan kicked all four conversions on offer, along with a further three penalties, whilst scrumhalf Jean Nel also slotted a penalty goal for the Men in Blue & White.
Influential centres Janco Gunter and Justin Geduld found themselves amongst the try-scorers once again, with Geduld grabbing a first-half try double. DHL WP U19 left-wing and vice-captain JP Lewis scored his team’s other try.
