Bath confirm Nick Koster signing

PUBLISHED: October 24, 2012

English Premiership club side, Bath, have confirmed that they have signed DHL Western Province No.8 Nick Koster.

WP Rugby had given Bath permission to talk to Nick, 23, earlier this month and now a deal has been struck between the two parties.

An impressive and pacy player, Nick – at 102 kilograms and 1,90 metres – has represented Western Province since the 2008 season, playing a total of 32 matches. He made his Super Rugby debut for the DHL Stormers in 2009, playing 26 matches – despite suffering an horrific knee injury in his first season.

Speaking of Koster’s signing, Bath head coach Gary Gold – himself a former DHL WP head coach – said: “Nick is a very exciting young player and we are delighted that he has agreed to move to Bath.

“He is a hard-working, incredibly motivated guy, and we are sure he will fit in with the club ethos we are developing. We have a very talented and competitive back row at present, and Nick knows he will have to fight for his place, but he is up for the challenge and we can’t wait to see the results.”

Gold added: “We’d like to thank Western Province for their co-operation in allowing Nick to join us, and we look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with them. Hopefully it will allow players to potentially spend time with the other club as and when the opportunity should arise.”
