Lock Connor Evans will take over the captaincy for DHL Western Province U21 in their final league game of the season against Leopards U21 in Potchefstroom on Saturday.
Evans assumes the leadership for the clash at Olen Park, which kicks off at 12h00 on Saturday, in the absence of regular captain Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu who is representing the DHL Stormers XV in their pre-season match in George on Friday.
Kian Davis will line up at flyhalf among a number of changes as coach Jono van der Walt ensures his entire squad has had enough gametime heading onto the play-offs.
DHL Western Province U21 need just one log point in Potchefstroom to secure top spot on the standings and home advantage throughout the play-offs, but will be aiming to finish the league phase of the campaign unbeaten with another win away from home.
Loose forward Camden Schoeman, utility backs Ulrich Wahl and Ezekiel Ngobeni and centre Mambo Mkhize all come into the matchday squad.
Van der Walt said that it will be important for his team to continue their winning momentum.
“There have been some changes this week, but this is still a strong side and we are very keen to see how some of the combinations we have out there go.
“It is important for us to have options heading into the play-offs and there are a few players who will be eager to prove themselves in Potchefstroom,” he said.
