DHL Western Province U21 scored seven tries on their way to a resounding 50-10 victory in their SA Rugby U21 Championship semifinal against Toyota Free State U21 at Villager FC on Saturday.
They will face Vodacom Blue Bulls U21 in the final next week, following a dominant performance at Brookside.
The home side had to come from their own tryline to open the scoring, with flank Shaine Ordeson bashing over following an attacking line-out.
The visitors responded with a penalty from inside centre James Mollentze, but DHL Western Province went 14-3 up when hooker Schalk Erasmus scored from a driving maul.
The third try came as the result of a tighthead scrum that was won deep in their own 22, with the forwards shoving their opponenets off the ball before Orderson made good ground upfield and flyhalf David Coetzer crossing for the try which he duly converted.
Toyota Free State U21 scored from a charge-down, but DHL Western Province U21 took a comfortable 21-10 advantage into the half-time break.
Erasmus got over for his second try early in the second half, barging his way over from close range to score under the poles.
Orderson went ovr for his second try with 20 minutes left to play, the flank finishing off a patient build-up featuring forwards and backs.
Late tries from replacements Jesse Johnson and Dan Jooste along with a drop-goal from Abner van Reenen sealed a comfortable 50-10 victory and booked their place in the final next week.
