There will be a minute’s silence at DHL Newlands before the Vodacom Super Rugby encounter between the DHL Stormers and Cell C Sharks on Saturday in memory of Theuns Roodman, Eddie Hendriks and Ben van der Colff.
All three men were servants of rugby in Western Province who have sadly passed away recently.
Roodman was a former Western Province Rugby Football Union Chief Executive Officer, who served the union for 33 years.
Hendriks was a referee and citing commissioner of considerable experience whose served the game both before and after rugby unity in South Africa,
Van der Colff was a formidable No.8 who was the first captain of Tygerberg Rugby Football Union.
President of the Western Province Rugby Football Union, Mr Thelo Wakefield, said that it is fitting that all three men are honoured properly with a minute’s silence at DHL Newlands.
“All three of these men made a significant impact at Western Province rugby in their own way.
“We will honour their memories, while our thoughts are with their respective families,” he said.
