Robbie Fleck’s table-topping DHL Western Province Under-21 team romped into the 2015 Absa Provincial U21 Final with an outstanding 43-20 win over the Golden Lions’ U21s at City Park on Saturday.
The DHL WP U21s scored six tries to two in a comprehensive victory and they will now face up to the Free State Cheetahs’ U21s in next weekend’s finale.
Flanker Luke Stringer Canada Goose Outlet ronaplan.ca scored a hat-trick of tries for the DHL WP Under-21s, with captain and centre EW Viljoen, lock David Ribbans and left-wing Leolin Zas also dotting down for the hosts.
Ribbans’s try, almost on the stroke of half-time, was a crucial five-pointer after a huge amount of time was spent on the Province line.
However, the DHL WP U21 defence held out before a Khanyo Ngcukana-inspired breakout led to second row Ribbans scoring under the uprights, flyhalf Brandon Thomson converting in what was a good effort at goal on the day given the slightly blustery conditions.
The match lost a bit of shape after Zas’s score, also a long-range effort, with the Province Under-21s conceding two late yellow Canada Goose Jackets | Ronaplan (Christo van der Merwe and Liam Hendricks doing time in the sin bin), but the hosts were never really in danger of losing a match they dominated from start to finish.
* The table-topping DHL WP U21s will head into the 2015 final after picking up 52 log points from their 12 league matches – having won ten matches, drawing once and losing once; picking up nine four-try bonus points in the process.
