Western Province Rugby is seeking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer who will provide leadership, strategic guidance and overall management.
Western Province Rugby, which comprises the Western Province Rugby Football Union (WPRFU) and Western Province Rugby (Pty) Ltd, (collectively referred to as “the Group”) is a dynamic organisation which constantly strives towards achieving its strategic goals as a High Performance Organisation.
Our aim is to become the leading rugby franchise in world rugby. The organisation seeks to appoint a Chief Executive Officer who will provide leadership, strategic guidance and overall management of the Group. The position is based in Cape Town, South Africa and the successful candidate will be appointed on a five-year contract.
Appointment: Five-year contract, commencing on July 1, 2016.
Job summary: The Chief Executive Officer serves as chief executive of the Group and is responsible for the success of the Group. Together with the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, the CEO assures the Group’s relevance to the community, the accomplishment of its mission and vision, and the accountability of the Group to its diverse constituents.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
– Continually enhance the Group’s ability to compete successfully in all rugby competitions in which it participates;
– Manage and allocate all the Group’s resources efficiently and effectively to achieve its objectives;
– Advocacy, Lobbying, Public Relations, Marketing, Networking and Stakeholder relations;
– Ensure that WP Rugby retains and strengthens its position as a leader and High Performance Organisation in the eyes of its shareholders, client base, the wider community and world rugby.
– Provide direction and leadership to the Group, senior management team and all employees of the Group;
– Develop the performance objectives of the Group, both on and off the field, through setting challenging and ambitious targets;
– Derive income across all revenue streams in order to provide the Group with the best possible resources;
– Lead and manage the player contract negotiations;
– Continuously improve revenue from the established sources and ensure new revenue streams are secured to deliver the strategic plan of the Group;
– Identify and establish new business ventures in partnership with commercial partners and otherwise.
REQUIREMENTS:
Post graduate degree in Commerce with a minimum of five years business experience in a senior management position and the proven ability to demonstrate critical competencies in four broad categories: Commitment to results, Business savvy, Leading change, and Motivational skills.
