PUBLISHED: July 2, 2015

Boland on Thursday made the most of their home-ground advantage at the Learners with Special Educational Needs Week at HTS Drostdy in Worcester as they beat DHL Western Province 25-12 to finish the tournament unbeaten.

Boland delivered a solid first-half performance to build up a morale-boosting 18-5 lead at the break and held their nerve in a tense second half in which they scored a converted try and denied their neighbours from scoring any further points to seal the victory.

DHL WP, however, deserve credit for finishing the 2015 LSEN Week with two wins from three starts – their victories being by 71-12 over KZN (Day One) and 20-13 over SWD (Day Two).

In the second-last match the Blue Bulls staged a dramatic second-half comeback against SWD after trailing 19-0 at the break to register a hard-earned 22-19 victory.

The George side dominated the first half and managed to burst over the tryline three times to build an encouraging lead. But the Blue Bulls fought back with intent and scored four second-half tries to force their way into the lead on the scoreboard and seal the victory.

Eastern Province, meanwhile, registered the biggest victory of the day as they thumped the Leopards 61-0.

In the other clashes the Valke registered a narrow 12-7 victory against the Golden Lions EE, while the Golden Lions staged a strong second-half comeback against the Free State from 10-6 down, to work their way to 25-10 victory with three tries to one.

KwaZulu-Natal and the Pumas also finished the tournament on a high note, with the Durban side beating the Griffons 29-10, while the Pumas outplayed the Blue Bulls EE 22-0.
