DHL WP v Blue Bulls U19 & U21, as curtain-raisers to the Super Rugby Semi

DHL WP got off to an excellent start in the first round of the Absa u21 and u19 tournaments with the u21’s racking up a 25 (18) – 19 (16) win over the Lions and the u19’s turning around a half time deficit to beat the Lions 23 (3) – 13 (10).

DHL WP u21 and Vodacom Cup winning coach John Dobson said “Our youngsters showed great heart and passion for the jersey, with both teams winning away in difficult conditions. We have some great depth and young talent in this province and we are looking forward to the rest of the tournament”.

Try scorers for the u21 DHL WP team saw Damian de Allende scoring 2 tries and Devon Williams scoring one. Both conversions as well as 2 penalties were taken by Dillion Leyds.

Try scorers for the u19 DHL WP team saw Andre Riaan Warner and Jean-Paul Lewis score a try each, with Tomasso Allan successfully kicking over 3 penalties and 2 conversions.

Next up for the junior teams are the Blue Bulls. Both the u19 and u21 games will be played as curtain raisers to the DHL Stormers home semi-final, on Saturday 28 July.
