The 2023 Western Province Rugby Football Union Awards evening was held at Kelvin Grove on Wednesday night.
It was a memorable occasion as the best and brightest in local community rugby were recognised, while eight DHL Western Province players received their senior caps.
The clubs who won the various league competitions under the WPRFU banner were recognised before the stand-out individuals from the 2023 season.
Stellenbosch University loose forward Gift Dlamini walked away with the Club Rugby Player of the year award after playing an influential role for the Super League A winners. Azisa Mkiva was recognised as the DHL WP Women’s Player of the Year.
Craven Week superstar fullback JC Mars was named the DHL WP School’s Player of the Year, while Anja Le Roux claimed the DHL WP Junior Girls Player of the Year.
Club Rugby Sevens Player of the Year was Ronaldo Daniels and Dyllan Francke the Club Rugby Referee of the Year.
The keynote address was given by SARU CEO Rian Oberholzer and WPRFU General Manager Danny Jones also gave a word of thanks to all staff and the various individuals who bring amateur rugby to life.
